These have to be the most comfortable running shoes I've ever worn. The technology is cool, too, but I'm so happy with how they feel on a run or a walk.
I have been running in UA shoes for a very long time. Since the original Geminis. The Sonic 3 look BA as far as the colors and style but I don’t like them. I tried to “break them in” but gave up on them. My original Sonic didn’t need broke in. Under Armour creates an amazing shoe (Gemini 1 and Sonic 1) and then they change it with every gen. The Sonic 3 uppers are constricting, less breathable and run smaller. The material doesn’t adapt to the shape, movement and activity when they are on causing them to get weird creases on them in the toe area, which you can see in my pictures. I wanted to love these because they are BA looking, but I’m not even keeping them for leisure wear. I found the original gen on another site and bought 4. Looks like I’ll be hoarding shoes again until I can’t find them anywhere and I’ll be forced to find a new shoe. Again. Under Armour, bring back the original Sonic (and Gemini).
Was pretty impressed with the UA HOVR technology. Fun to use when running. Was also able to use while working out in elliptical too! Colors are vibrant. I have had so many compliments!
These new shoes are so comfortable and they feel like I’m walking on a soft pillow
Having read the various 4-5 star reviews for this pair of shoes, I decided to purchase them online as a birthday gift for my wife who wears US7.5. I do note that there have been some conflicting reviews as to the sizing of this shoe - some reviews claim that they are true to size whilst others recommend half a size up. To be sure, I even made a trip to down to a UA store to enquire about the sizing to which I was assured by the sales rep that the shoes would be true to size, that is, if the person wears US7.5, then get US7.5. It would have been ideal if my wife could have tried on the shoes before purchase but obviously this would have ruined the birthday surprise. Imagine our disappointment upon the realisation that these shoes are indeed smaller than the stated size. From the attached photos, you can see this difference when placed side by side with her old pair of shoes. What’s worse, after wearing her new UA shoes for a couple of long runs, she now had bruising under her toenails from the tightness of the shoes. Sizing issues aside, my wife loves the coaching and analytics that come with the connectivity to the UA mapmyrun app. Hence thanks to this feature, she has given the shoes 3 stars.
Surprise says it all!! I've ran in Under Armour shoes before--preupdates with the HOVR technology, etc and they were terrible to run in. I would slip on the pavement when it was wet. I had to go up a size; then go down a size--on the same model of shoe. With these shoes, even though they warned they ran small, have fit like a glove!!!--and it was size I was concerned about, especially considering I am coming back from a stress-fracture surgery in my foot and it is still a little swollen. But no worries--they fit like a glove at my normal shoe size. I am so incredibly pleased!! Grateful I got these on sales; that I bought the right pair (because I did do some research before I purchased them). I love these shoes and I am so relieved that they did not disappoint, despite the warnings of them running small. To me they run perfectly!!!
Absolutely love these! They fit perfectly and have a very nice style. I have gotten a ton of compliments on them and have gotten asked where I got them from. Also love that they connect to MapMyRun. I believe shoes like these give you more of an assentive to want to move more and get them steps in. Oh and lastly I usually where a 9 in women’s shoes but I bought a 8 1/2 in these and they fit perfect.
These shoes are super comfy!! I love the fit, very light weight.
I found these shoes to be super comfortable. The tech is really cool too. I especially like the heel padding that snuggles your foot. Love these! Fit does run small. I ordered half size larger than I normally do and fit great.
Fell in love with running some 8 years ago, experimented with a few brands, found UA 5 years ago, and it's been no turning back. Still, being budget-conscious, the HOVR Sonic 3 was considered an "investment" but I got it as I was looking to run longer (10-15km) distances more regularly. Took it out for around 5 x 12-15km runs on footpaths/ PCNs before writing this. Initial cons: It felt a little heavier than my previous favorite pair of UAs (Charged Rogue 2) and sole seemed stiffer - turns out it was more an impression as within the first 1-2km, not only was the weightier sole unnoticeable, it actually added stability and bounce. Pros: What I loved most was there seemed to be a special "catch" in its sockliner/ inner sole. Usually I would feel a blister coming on by 10km, even with good running socks, but not with the Sonic 3. The responsiveness constantly surprised each stride and spurred me on with minimal friction (which I now notice when using some other pairs). The upper fabric is also one of my favorite things about the shoe - amazing quality. It's soft, smooth, yet not flimsy, giving a secure wrap mid-distance runners would appreciate. Shock absorption was impressive, and where I would usually feel strain, this was mostly cushioned, which again was a most pleasant surprise for an amateur runner. Ran in heavy rain once - good grip, responsive sole, dried well without any remnant odor found in other pairs sometimes. Added advantage of the seamless pairing with MapMyRun app, again thought an unnecessary feature for an amateur runner, but wow, it has helped me run more confidently. Especially appreciate the cadence 'reports' which I never knew I could adjust while maintaining pace! Perhaps with my short stature (5'1"), this has really helped me clock longer distances with better stamina as it keeps me conscious of my steps, pace and breathing. Paired with my trusty ear buds, it's great not having to wear/ check any trackers elsewhere while getting personal coaching and being able to still listen to your favorite playlist without switching apps. True to fit. Cons: Not really a con, but the tongue is a little short and uncomfortable for the first few steps, but not too noticeable after, and not a problem at all with good socks. The round laces look aesthetically great, but they're smooth, and a double knot is recommended. Overall, can't say enough good things about this. It's not perfect, but close to perfect for a budget-conscious amateur runner who loves little surprises in each stride.
